Engine Immobilizer

Engine Immobilizer Feature

The Engine Immobilizer/Kill switch feature allows you to remotely disable and enable your vehicle's engine by using a control switch. Depending on the tracker’s configuration, two scenarios may occur when the switch is activated.

Engine Kill: When you activate the switch, this feature will immediately cut off the vehicle's ignition, even if it's moving. However, for safety reasons, the engine kill will only activate if the vehicle is moving below 20 km/h. If the vehicle is traveling above this speed, the engine kill will not take effect until it slows down to under 20 km/h.

Engine Immobilizer: When you activate the switch, it will not immediately stop the ignition because the accessory is connected to the starter, not the ignition. Therefore, if the vehicle is moving, it will continue operating normally even after the switch is activated. The immobilizer only prevents the vehicle from restarting after the ignition is turned off, which is useful when the vehicle is parked.

Note: The platform switch works for both Engine Kill and Immobilizer.

How to use the Switch

To use this feature, head to the ‘Map page’, select a device that you want to use this feature with. Under the ‘Telematics tab’, find the Immobilizer widget. This will display the current status, showing whether the immobilizer is on or off.

When clicked, it will prompt you (based on the current status) to choose whether you want to turn the immobilizer ON or OFF.

Note: Only devices capable of this feature will have this switch, otherwise, you will see "N/A."

The pencil icon lets you select the output. If no output or an incorrect output is selected, the immobilizer will not work.

Note: This is typically configured by support in advance and usually does not require any changes.
