Video Telematics

Video Telematics

This tab allows you to access and monitor the live video stream from your dashcam. The number of available camera feeds will be displayed here, based on the number of cameras your dashcam device has. J2 dashcam has channels, while MDVR can have up to 8 channels.

To view the livestream, go to the ‘Maps page’, select your dashcam device, and click on the ‘Video tab’ in the right panel.

For MDVR dashcams, it will have more than two channel display and different icons.

You can now monitor the livestream of your dashcam.

Note: Streaming video consumes data. Please make sure your dashcam device has enough available data to view the livestream.

J2 Dashcam

  1. Play/Pause - click this to play or pause the livestream.

  2. Mute/Unmute - enable or mute the camera audio.

  3. Fullscreen - switch to fullscreen mode and enlarge the livestream.

  4. 3 dot icon - creates an overlay livestream display, which you can resize and move around the page. It's helpful if you need to do other tasks on your computer while still monitoring the livestream. You can only do this one channel at a time, and this is available only on the J2 dashcam.

  1. Video scrub bar - lets you navigate through the video timeline, allowing you to play back or preview previous frames.

MDVR Dashcam

  1. Use these icons to adjust the number of displays, showing only the cameras you need.
  2. Stop Icon - click this to stop all livestreams from the dashcam.

  3. Fullscreen -  switches to fullscreen mode, enlarging the livestream display.

  1. Play button - each livestream has its own play button, allowing you to play a specific livestream.

  2. Stop button -  each livestream display has a stop button to stop that specific livestream.

  3. Mute/Unmute - click this to enable or mute the camera audio for the specific livestream. Note: Some cameras do not have a microphone, so audio will not be available.

  4. HD - click this to view the livestream in high-definition quality.
On MDVR dashcams, the livestream will default to the lowest quality once played to minimize data consumption. If you need a higher-quality livestream, click the HD icon. If the HD icon isn't visible, try reducing the number of displayed livestreams or switching to fullscreen mode to reveal the icon. This will provide a clearer livestream.

You can click the icon again to revert it back to low resolution.

Occasionally, you may experience the following issues:

  • Livestream display not playing all at once or only plays one display

  • Livestream only displaying at the lowest resolution

  • Livestream not playing or unable to be viewed

Note: Livestreaming is similar to online video streaming, so if you have a slow internet connection, the livestream may not show the best resolution. If the signal is weak, it may prevent the livestream from playing or may only show one display. Please wait for the signal to improve before attempting to play the livestream again.
